Hi, I am Anna. I grew up in a small northern Michigan town called Boyne City. It is known for it’s beautiful Lake Charlevoix, skiing, but I think it is absolutely breathtaking in the summer. I particularly love their over the top celebration of the 4th of July.
I met and married the most incredible man in Traverse City, Michigan on February 8th, 1997. As of today, it is almost 15 years. He joined the Air Force in 1999, and we moved to Texas and then to California for 5 years. We moved back to Michigan in 2005, so he could become an engineer. Then he went back into the Air Force in 2010. We live in Ohio.
We have five children. Grace is our oldest at 10, Audrey is 9, Elijah is 8, Abigail is 6, and last but certainly not least is Becca who is 3. They keep me super busy and are my job and calling for the time being. No regrets, just lots of love and challenges.
When we first had children, we had wanted to homeschool. Homeschooling was one of those things we bounced around about, but when Grace was about 4, we had decided that was what we were going to do. She didn’t respond well to it, so we sent her to preschool and then on to public school. On top of schooling she did at school, we would work for hours with her each night. I was constantly talking to school officials about her situation. I got worn out fighting for her to get the attention she needed. So, in the fall of 2010, we made the scary decision to bring them all home for schooling. And here we are…. on a journey. Notice I didn’t call it a race. Homeschooling is a journey. A journey to knowledge. It has it’s ups and downs. It’s good times and bad times.
This blog is my place to talk about all the things that make up my life. The good, bad, and the ugly. I talk about our challenges. I talk about our triumphs. I will share what works for us, and most certainly what doesn’t work for us. I hope you will join us on this journey.
Anna
